Weddings

It has been a wonderful summer and start of fall for our wedding season! We have done many unique weddings this year. Black was a very popular color for dresses and having the flowers be bright, to pop against the black. Natural was also in, but it is always popular for up here, because it is such a beautiful area, people like the beauty to speak for itself without going all out. The most popular places for receptions this year were definitely the life saving station and Crystal Mountain. The Beach is by far the most popular place to get married around here.

We rent out tuxedos, which makes it very nice to be able to return your tuxedos here the next day instead of taking them back to Traverse City or downstate. We can make wedding cakes from our homemade premium ice cream. You can be very creative with your flavors. Valentines Day

Some tips to keep flowers lasting longer.... change water daily. It is better to change the water not just add water. Bacteria growth in water clogs stems and prevents water from going up the stem. Use cold water. Warm water makes flowers open faster therefor not last as long. Use flower packets that are given to you when you buy flowers. You can purchase extra flower packages. Keep flowers in a cool spot out of the sun. Keep flowers away from fruits and veggies. Some fruits and veggies give off ethylene which ripen and kill flowers. It is like putting an apple with a banana. The apple ripens the banana. The last thing is to cut flowers properly with a knife NOT with scissors. Scissors crush the stem which prevents the proper flow of water from going up the stem to the head of the flower. If you can not cut the stem proper it is better left alone. ENJOY
